The Mars Hill Centre Team
Cheryl Shea is our founder and team leader starting the ministry in 1995 as a way to reach out to people who were looking for emotional healing and spiritual answers in their lives but were wary of a typical "church". As God has healed her wounded heart her desire is to see others find healing in their own hearts, and be restored into relationships and community. Cheryl has a Master of Divinity degree from Taylor University, Edmonton and ministry credentials with Christian City Church Edmonton.
Andre van der Boor joined our team a few years ago to oversee our ministry to people with clinical mental illnesses as well as develop ministry for men. His presence is an answer to prayer as both areas under his leadership continue to grow. Andre oversees 2 weekly "Mental Health Support Groups" as well as facilitating recovery groups for men. He is an ordained minister with the Pentecostal Assembilies of Canada and served as a chaplain at Alberta Hospital, Edmonton for ten years.
Louise Miller has been an integral part of the team since the beginning. Her gentle yet firm nature has helped hundreds of women looked at the deep parts of their hearts. In addition to providing general pastoral care Louise facilitates a variety of recovery groups. Louise was a teacher for many years as well as being involved in pastoral ministry in her church.
Cheryl Outten is our Stony Plain, Alberta Team Leader. She first connected with the ministry ten years ago as a group participant and now helps others find healing in their lives. With a strong prophetic voice, Cheryl specializes in the area of breaking spiritual strongholds.
Extended Ministry Team
Our Extended Ministry Team includes other group facilitators, interns and prayer intercessors.
Specially we'd like to introduce you to:
Jack Bauer who is a co-leader with Andre van der Boor in the Mental Health Issues support groups. Jack has been a key part of these groups sharing from his counselling training and personal experience.
Nancy Rutter facilitates a Mental Health support group as well as being involved in various aspects of ministry. She has completed our internship program and is an ordained deacon (retired) with the Anglican Church of Canada. In addition Nancy facilitates our Wounded Heart groups too.
Linda Mah facilitates both our Boundaries and Mom Factor. Linda has walked through her own journey over the past few years and has seen God set her free, and fulfill many of her life dreams. A Teachers' Aid Linda uses her passion for freedom in Christ and teaching ability to help others find healing.
Teresa Brook co-facilitates our Anxiety group. Teresa has a passion to see people free, and see those who struggle with mental health issues find freedom.
Charlene Brunner is a facilitator for our Wounded Heart group walking with other women in the same journey she has to find healing from the damage of sexual abuse.
Mars Hill Centre is governed by a dedicated board of women and men. Currently serving on our Board of Directors are: Pastor Terry Harsch (Old Strathcona Vineyard Fellowship), Maureen Korzan (Elder-Christian City Church Edmonton), Loran Prince (Businessman and member Christian City Church Metro), and Rev. Lori Calkins (St. Thomas Anglican Church, Sherwood Park).
