Internship Program at the Mars Hill Centre

The Mars Hill Centre is a unique urban outreach ministry located in the heart of the city of Edmonton, Old Strathcona. Since 1995 we have been reaching out to people looking for spiritual answers fror their live but wary of our churches. Seekers have become followers of Jesus through out ministry and many prodigal sons and daughters have found their way home. God has uniquely gifted us to reach these people with the gospel.

Beginning again this fall we will be offering an internship program for men and women interested in devleoping their skills in all facets of community-based recovery group ministry. You will receive training in recovery group facilitation, prayer counseling and pastoral care, as well as other day-to-day aspects of ministry and be challenged to grow in your faith and ability to love God and others.

Qualification for Interns

Committed Christian with a letter of reference from your pastor, a Christian friend and a non-Christian friend.
Developing leadership gifts.
Good reading, writing and communicaiton skills.
Teachable spirit.
Agreement with our ministry philosophy.

Specifically you will

Be a paricipant in at least two recover groups.
Be a co-facilitator in one group in the second semester, or facilitate a 6 week group.
Participate in our weekly community worship, prayer and teaching time "Healing Connections".
Observe in counselling sessions.
Observe and participate in prayer counselling.
Provide Pastoral Care and other practical ministry experience.

Rev. Cheryl Shea, M.Div.

Cheryl is the founder of the Mars Hill Centre and over the last decade has walked with many people through the process of inner healing. God has given her a unique perspective on emotional recovery tha tincorporates hear and relational restoration that is based on the bibilical foundation of community.

Internship Program Length

Eight month program, beinning in early October for 10-15 hours per week. (Program start dates may vary.)

Registration Fee

$200 per month or $1500 for the six month program; $2000 for the eight month program. A non-refundable deposit of $200 is required upon reistration. The balance of the fees can be paid monthly.

Space is limited to the first three paid registrants.
